Membership
Worcester Rowing Club welcomes people of all ages and abilities who are interested in taking up rowing as a competitive or recreational sport, and becoming members of the club.
New to rowing?
If you have never rowed before, come down to the Club at any of the below times, and ask for the Captain or one of the Vice Captains. Ask about our regular Go Row courses which aim to teach you the basics and get you completely hooked!
More information
Already rowing?
If you have rowed before, you will be asked to complete an Application Form, and to pay £15 (non refundable). This small charge, which will be deducted from your first year's subscription) is made to cover administration expenses. For insurance liability reasons we need a completed form for anyone who uses any of the Club equipment.
New members are not allowed to use Club equipment unsupervised. You must be able to swim 100 metres in rowing kit, and be in good health, and if under 18 you must have parental/guardian's consent before you will be allowed to start.
Club Hours
Summer: most weekday evenings from 6.30, weekends from 10.00am.
Winter: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 8.30, weekends as above.
About the club
At present, we have an active membership of about 120 oarspersons from Juniors to Veterans. There are about 200 other members who support the Club as recreational members, Patrons, and Friends. As well as rowing, we have a full calendar of social events such as parties, barbecues, dinners, etc.
The Club has a group of Coaches who, under the direction of the Captain, teach new members how to row, form crews, and train them for competition. How far you go is up to you.
Worcester Rowing Club is run by the members for the members on a voluntary basis, unlike a sports centre where you "pay, play, and go", and where staff are employed to do the work.
If you decide to become a member, you will be expected to assist the Captain and Committee when help is required, and to give your support to the above mentioned social events upon which the Club depends for much of its income.
We look forward to welcoming you into the Club.
