Regatta - Many Thanks, What a day!
May 24, 2010
What a day! We put on a great regatta yet again. Directly or indirectly many competitors or coaches have thanked WRC for the day and told me how good it was. Clearly the fact that I arranged the stunning weather helped...
To everyone who helped a lot or a little thank you, we can't run this event successfully without you getting your hands dirty, marshalling, cleaning, running around on my behalf, etc, etc
There are some of you that put in a lot of time, so a particular mention to:-
Claire Crozier & Erica Loveday - for running the 'Start' so efficiently.
Becs Crowther & Bill Grimmitt - for recording and communicating the results of each race accurately.
Those that came down at 7a.m. or earlier - Pete Crozier, Jim Swann, Andy Greenway, Jed, Shaun, Graham, Alex.
Mark Perkins - who ended up staying all day managing race control (hope his wife forgives me!).
Georgina Packwood and Michelle Hodgkins - Georgina for organising the Umpires & Sponsors enclosure and buying all the food. To both of them for preparing food all day in that hot kitchen......... sorry about the cooker breaking down again.
Bob Menhinick - For spending so much of his own time getting 10 sponsors to support the event and fulfilling our commitment to them on the day.
Rosanne Eardley - For preparing the programme.
Anne O'Connell - For the hours and hours of work on the day but especially the days of preparation leading upto the event.
Shaun Fisher - Who organised all the outdoor catering, bought all the food and prepared the BBQ.
Cake Makers of WRC - They went down extremely well yet again mmmmmmmmm
Dan & Gaz (Comperes) - Good commentary, informative and entertaining, although towards the end the sun obviously started to take effect !..... or was it the Strongbow.
Graham Henderson - Who gives us such good support from start to finish of every event.
WRC Umpires - Who all did more than their fair share in hot conditions.
Bob Wooding & Bob Pritchard - For making all the winners feel like their win was a unique and special occasion, which it was. Bob Pritchard must be on so many peoples mantle pieces after so many years of presenting prizes ?
Apologies for not mentioning everyone.
If you have any comments or recommendations on how we can improve the event please let me know.
Cheers,
Steen
